Bhavesh Mehta

SDE-2 at Loop Health, Bengaluru

Hi, I'm Bhavesh. I build software the way good cloth is woven: patiently, and to last.

I grew up in Ichalkaranji, a town of looms. Today I build the systems behind health benefits for more than a million people at Loop Health: many small threads, carefully joined, so the whole thing holds.

Work

The work so far

Three years at Loop Health, one thread at a time. Each piece below solved a real problem for real people.

  1. Software Engineer 2 (SDE-2)

    Jan 2025 – Present

    Loop Health, Bengaluru

I build the systems companies use to offer health benefits to their employees, from sign-up to pricing.

    • ₹100 Cr+ in first-year sales. Designed and built the main service behind our employee benefits platform from scratch. Each company's plan is set up through simple settings instead of new code, and three other teams now build on it.
    • 1M+ employees signed up. Built the sign-up flow that moves employees onto their benefits. If a step fails midway, it safely picks up again, so nobody's details get lost.
    • 3–5 seconds → 200 ms. Made insurance price quotes feel instant by fixing slow database lookups and saving common results.
    • Releases: 5 → 2 minutes. Moved eight services onto one shared release process, so fixes reach people faster and more securely.
    • A test link for every change. Every proposed change now gets its own working copy of the app in under a minute, so the team can try it fully before it goes live. Reviews went from days to hours.
    • AI voice autofill. Shipped a tool where our operations team records a short voice note and the setup form fills itself in, instead of typing everything by hand.
  2. Software Engineer (SDE-1)

    Jan 2023 – Dec 2024

    Loop Health, Pune

I started as an intern and grew into owning parts of the HR dashboard and the tools that connect companies to Loop.

    • 15 days → 3 days. Built a reusable connector to companies' HR software, now used by 17 clients. Setting up a new provider went from 15 days to 3, and a new client from 7 days to 1.
    • 5K → 30K sign-ups. Scaled employee registrations six-fold, handling about a million records with no manual work.
    • 658 companies. Owned key parts of the HR dashboard these companies use every day. Made it twice as fast and cut drop-offs by 20%.
    • One secure login. Set up a single sign-in across all our products, with the right access for each person's role.

Projects

Made on the side

Smaller pieces I've made for fun and for people I know. The first one is a game you can play right here.

Tic-Tac-Toe vs Jev

2026

Tic-tac-toe against Jev, a new AI model that shows how sure it is about every move. Try to beat it.

The numbers show how sure Jev is about each square.

Built with Jev by TypeSafe AI, TypeScript

This is a demo. Jev is sitting this one out.The real game plays against Jev. Here, a small player built into this page takes Jev's seat, so nothing is sent to Jev.

About me

About me

I studied IT in Pune and joined Loop Health right after college, first as an intern. What I enjoy most is taking something tangled, finding the loose ends, and tying it into something simple that keeps working.

How I like to work

  • Keep people in the loop.

A short, clear update is worth more than a clever fix nobody hears about.

  • Finish the edges.

Work isn't done when it runs. It's done when it's tested, watched and easy to look after.

  • Make it easy to pick up.

If only I can run it, it isn't finished.

The longer story

How a curious kid from a town of looms ended up writing software.

  1. Age 8

    My first computer

It had a search window with a little cartoon dog that sniffed around for files. I spent more time wondering how the dog knew where to look than actually searching.

  2. Class 8

Games, then the network behind them

Counter-Strike and GTA came next. When I found out friends could play together over a home network, I learned how to wire one up and ran a small game server at home in Ichalkaranji. It was my first taste of keeping something running for other people.

  3. Class 10

    My first web pages

I made my first pages with HTML and CSS. Seeing something I'd written show up in a browser is still one of my favourite feelings.

  4. 2019 – 2023

    College in Pune

I studied Information Technology at VIIT, Pune. The projects that broke, and had to be fixed, taught me the most.

  5. 2023

    Joining Loop Health

I joined Loop Health, a Y Combinator-backed health-insurance startup, as an intern. My manager showed me that clear communication matters as much as good code. I still work by that.

  6. 2025

    Software Engineer 2

Promoted to SDE-2. Startup work taught me to own a problem from start to finish: understand it, build the fix, ship it, and keep it running. Now more people rely on what I build.

  7. Now

    Learning AI

I'm learning where AI genuinely saves people time. One example already in use: our operations team records a short voice note, and the right form fills itself in.
